Now with updated Kontakt 6, we get a little more power and more plugins libraries added to the mix. Who cares if you don't have the most realistic 1TB classic strings sample library, simply use something else.It comes with a full arsenal including some newbies like the synth Analog Dreams, instrument Ethereal Earth, and Hybrid Keys. If I think how I enjoyed my ONLY two poor Yamaha DX7 + Roland D50, how many sounds and music I took from them when I was 16, I think that I could make any song with one single modern general-purpose virtual instrument. In the meanwhile I like spending a lot learning one single instrument like Omni 2. I think that I will go with Omni 2 and keep an eye to NI for a possible offer. Unfortunately there is no Omni demo.OK! I already have the HW keyboards (both weighted and not). You can download the free Kontakt player to test the waters. As you pointed out, why buy the Kontakt stand alone when you can have the whole deal for 100 more? That's how I got into it. Buying the stand alone products is always more expensive. They will likely have a 50% sale later this year on the bundle if you can wait. If you are already set with a controller, then buying the Komplete bundle is always your best bet. NI always provides incentives to cross-grade from their hardware into Komplete. If you don't have a midi controller, they have a great promo at the moment that allows you to get K10 with it. (from NI web-site) Komplete 10 = 499 Euros, Kontakt 5 = 399 Euros I was writing my previous post without having read your post. I could not be without either.Thank you superscan! Not to confuse things any more, but if I had to do it all over again, I would still have both as they are complimentary, but if I had to be even more selective, I would still get OmniSphere and pickup Kontakt. I tend to use K9U for accompaniment / background for Pop. I have been working on Pop Music as of late, and I've found Omnisphere to be more inspiring than any other tool I've used. Its now even more of a Sound Designers paradise. Kontakt is a great tool that opens up so many possibilities. You would have to buy some 3rd party plug-ins for Acoustical Guitar. Komplete gives you many pianos, and samples of stringed instruments.
